photo stories 2015 and earlier

  • Lance

Lance and Jessica celebrated along with many friends & family, and their gorgoeus gal Violet who was quite the cutie!

Beautiful elements to the day, from Jessica's friend doing her hair, lots of boogie - ing whilst getting ready and smiles abound..through to the gorgoeus ceremony on the lawn at Cable Bay.

Also a notable feature was that each guest at the reception got a handwritten note from Jess along with a box of sweeties, so thoughtful...PLUS Jess & Lances first dance was a masterful choregraphed number that took everyones breath away ..

Thanks for having me there to capture the day! and thanks to my 2nd Photographer Maite Odriozola

  • Simon & Bruna's Mudbrick wedding

My first wedding of the 2016/2017 Waiheke Wedding season and what a lovely bunch of people to begin it with on a stunner of a late December day.

Their wedding was of an international flavour as Bruna is from Brazil, Simon a New Zealander, they met in London and now live in Brisbane. So with friends and family from across the globe they truly celebrated in style at Mudbrick vineyard.

So many gorgeous personal touches to their day from the wee ring bearer, Bruna's JEDI light saber presentation to Simon, the star wars cake topper and the fact that ALL the bridal party dresses & suits were designed by their friend from World clothing label, NZ.

A big thankyou to my fabulous second shooter Melissa Maguire

  • Vinnie & Rhian

Vinnie & Rhian's wedding was a simply stunning occasion to capture.

It sums up what i really love about photographing weddings: a whole talented team coming together to create a little touch of magic.

Meeting with Rhian & Vinnie before the wedding day i was able to gauge their photographic expectations for the bridal party photos & the creative couple shoot and was able to provide access to a couple of requested "epic" locations.. the bridal party picnic amongst a secret olive grove, and the view at sunset to the Auckland city skyline. I love having input from my couples and tailoring shoot locations and Waiheke has so many that we locals know about.

It was brilliant to work alongside Sophia from my waiheke and figment events and see their beautifully crafted styling, signage and props enhance the space. The L.O.V.E letters on the lawn were my personal favourite.

Summer was still in full swing, a Tuscan style villa and a marquee set on a hill with commanding views in every direction, a string quartet playing, champagne bar flowing, the marvellous Aaron Bloomfield, celebrant by day...sinatra style lounge singer by night, DJs for the party session...AND most importantly 2 people came together to make a committment to each other amongst their friends and family from near and far.

It was all so so good, hope you enjoy these select photos.

  • Kate & Freddie's Family Shoot

Here are two of our families lovely friends Kate & Freddie.

This wee collection of images illustrates what i love about a family photo shoot ...

Prior to the shoot i ask some questions like what you like to do as a family / "how do you roll" ... and then we discuss a location that is a favourite spot or of personal significance.

I like to start with photographing at the family home, it tells a true story of where you are at this moment..the bedroom door signs, the pets, what music you are listening too. i love documenting all this. One day some of these 'everyday' events will seem really significant..its like a visual time capsule of sorts.

Starting at home we hang out a bit and i find out what they have been up to lately ( puzzles, cheess and listening to music..and dancing like nobody's watching hah ! :) ..SO i capture just that...some times discreetly just chatting ...clicking away quietly ...sometimes a bit of subtle direction...Then we head out.

I love doing this type of family shoot..no hands on shoulders here and matching shirts folks!! Its a real privledge to be let in to your worlds for a snippet of time, with "real" being of emphasis.

The shoot ends up having a bit of documentary style obversations on daily life, a bit like a "slice of your life", some unguarded moments, and some considered portraits too (these are great framed for gifts).

Ideally it works best for 1 1/2 -2 hours with half the time spent at home and half out and about till it reaches its natural conclusion. This also give the little ones time to get to know me.

So come on in to Freddies' cabin..as the sign says "smooth sailing ahead ..welcome !" and if you want me to capture your worlds i would love to.
